Bio
Alexander built a 20-year career taking on the “never been done before” projects in service of the public interest. He is now 100% committed to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
He has been a founder and CEO, a C-level executive, as well as an advisor to governments at all levels. With a domestic focus, he also has experience working on numerous foreign assignments and with multi-lateral agencies.
Most recently, Alex was Partner at a specialized innovation and strategy consulting firm leading both its cleantech and digital transformation practices. His work involved collaborating with clients from public, private, and civic sectors to develop comprehensive and actionable strategy, guide them through early stage pilot programs in clean technology and digital transformation projects. He led efforts to secure millions of dollars in government grants as well as equity investment, he drafted benchmark policy, he built and delivered critical digital and data infrastructure to support projects, and he helped early-stage “climate tech” companies go to market and scale.
Prior to serving as an advisor, Alex spent 10 years as a founder and senior executive leading mission-driven, high-stakes technology ventures. He served stints as Head of Operations for two health technology (“health tech”) companies, one applying AI and machine learning to collect, review, and analyze raw medical record data for regulatory compliance, and the other a tech-enabled health services company working on patient transportation and mobility. He was also a founder and CEO of a government technology (“govtech”) company that collected and analyzed government data to inform state and local leaders about housing issues ranging from divestment, vacancy and blight to displacement and eviction issues.
In his early career, Alex spent time in the intelligence community building and applying advanced technology and data applications to address international affairs challenges: anti-corruption and transnational fraud prosecution, counterterrorism, counternarcotics and stabilization, combatting human trafficking, and other legal and regulatory enforcement matters.
Alex cares deeply about knowledge-sharing, serving as an adjunct at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs, where he has taught “Digital Government” for 6 years, helping the next generation of public sector integrate the latest technology into governing practices.
He holds a BA from University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University.
